My do or die moment

This fight was my do I die! If I didn't win this one, then I was going to stop boxing. You see, although, I was a skilled boxer, it was my mind that let me down. For e.g. minutes before the fight my thoughts would include.

'What if I lose?'

'What will people think?'

'What would my friends think if I lost?'

I used to freeze up and that was it. #performanceanxiety at its best. Given these thoughts, I had already lost the fight, without even stepping in the ring.

My point, don't let your thoughts dictate how you live your life .

This in-house fight, that took place at the Reflex Martial Arts Centre, Wollongong, Sydney in Oct 2010, is also described in my book 'The Boxer Within' available for sale in all online bookstores and Ginnindera Press.

Watch the fight to see the outcome...
